Building Handcrafted and Milled Log Homes

Harper Construction Inc. has been in the construction business since 1986 and building log homes since 2000.  Although our specialty is milled and handcrafted log homes, we also offer all types of construction from remodels, to timber frame, super insulated panel and custom stick frame homes.  I am a member of the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB), an NAHB Certified Green Professional, an Energy Star Partner and continually being educated in the areas of up-to-date building practices and codes.  I am a Montana registered General Contractor (license#55014) and carry liability insurance and work comp.  The business side is covered by my wife who received her Bachelors and Masters in Business from MSU-Billings.  We work mostly in the Georgetown Lake, Philipsburg, Anaconda, and Granite county areas but will travel throughout the state of Montana.

At Harper Construction Inc. we understand the importance of a satisfied customer.  The homes we build are warm and cozy in the winter and cool and comfortable in the summer because we always strive to exceed the standard energy building codes.  Our goal is to build a high performance home that requires little maintenance, saves the customer considerably on their utility bills while also being affordable and safe.  If you are comparing builders please make sure they are all registered with the state, carry liability insurance, and build to code (2009  International Energy Conservation Codes).  All new homes built in Montana since 2010 should meet these minimum code requirements and when completed should have an "Energy Efficiency Components" sticker placed on the electrical panel by the builder (homes with this sticker almost always appraise higher than similar homes without it).  Unfortunately, since these codes are not being enforced there are builders that don't follow them and although their bid prices are the cheapest it is the customer that pays the price in the long run.  Remember, building to code is not just about energy efficiency for the foundation, walls, attic, windows, heating, cooling, etc. but also about health issues such as allergens and radon gas and mold poisoning that are eliminated through proper conditioning (sealing) and venting of crawl spaces, bathrooms, and attics. For a copy of the 2009 IECC codes please click here.

Bring your own design or feel free to browse through our online Catalog of Floor Plans.  If you choose one of our designs you may modify it to fit your needs for whatever style home you build whether it be log, timber, or stick frame.

If your interest is logs, we are skilled in both milled (to see the various log profiles click here) or hand-crafted log packages.  We offer a dry-in stage (you finish the inside) or turn key  (ready for you to move in).  If you would like to view our craftsmanship, our model log home (located between Hall and Philipsburg, MT) may be toured by appointment or you may click here to view some of our Past Projects.

Please contact us if you would like an estimate on a particular floor plan or have any questions.

Harper Construction Inc. will work hard to provide a cost-efficient design, the finest grade materials available, and highly skilled craftsmen to fashion your affordable, high performance, green, American dream.
